- Better- Business Continuity Plan. A plan to get your firm back into profitable operation following interruption due to crisis or disaster.
- Best Practice- Customer Focused Plan as a Competitive Advantage. Proactively work with key customers and suppliers to assure service during and after a disaster.
September is National Preparedness Month and, of course, preparing for natural disasters, terrorist attacks, earthquakes, fires and the floods that follow are things we know we should do, but …
…after all, you probably think you already have been through enough disaster what with the current recession, investment market and housing slump, 3 year drought, latest largest fire in Los Angeles County history and then failure of 100 year old water mains. What’s
next?

A final observation: most of us living in California have heard for years that “the big one” will come. Most of us have tuned it out, taken it for granted, or “we’ll get around to it.” Hello! We are now observing the 140th anniversary of the 1868 Hayward Quake, which was The San Francisco Quake before 1906 occurred. Almost every building in this East San Francisco Bay town was wrecked. Injuries and damage occurred from San Jose, Oakland to San Francisco.
Scientists using excavations and radiocarbon dating have proof that this fault erupts at a magnitude 6.3 or greater quake in intervals between 96 to 160 years, averaging 138 years. It is now 141 years since the 1868 Quake.
Same song, same story: Southern San Andreas Fault; San Jacinto Fault; Northern San Andreas Fault, Elsinore Fault; Calaveras Fault.
